The story of General George S. Patton, Jr. during World War II. His battlefield genius garners him fear and respect from the Germans, and resentment and misunderstanding from the Allies. A military historian and poet, he believes he was a warrior in many past lives, and that he is destined for something great during this life, but his stubbornness and controversial methods nearly prevent the fulfillment of that destiny.

While the movie avoids some of his more unfortunate incidences, such as the loss of the airborne troops reinforcing 7th army in Sicily and the escape of the bulk of German forces from Sicily, it still manages to capture the essence of one of our greatest military leaders in the history of this country. Whatever his faults, here was a man who was where he wanted to be and knew exactly what he wanted to achieve. He put himself in a position to succeed and made his commanders successful, in turn.
Scott captures the complexity and flamboyance of his character brilliantly. I have to agree with other reviewers and say that if there was ever an actor to accurately portray him, it was Scott.
